Buštěhrad - a small town in the shadow of Kladno

Buštěhrad, formerly Buštěves or Buckov, is a city between Kladno and Prague. He began writing his history much earlier than his district town. The first mention dates back to 1209. At that time there was a castle, around which the village gradually grew. The torso of the castle gradually provided building material for the surrounding houses and was incorporated into the residential development. One of the streets that runs through the former courtyard today is called the Old Castle. The connection of centuries-old walls, gates and architectural elements of the castle with family houses seems nostalgic and mysterious.

Interesting facts Buštěhrad - a small town in the shadow of Kladno

Buštěhrad Castle, known, among other things, for its political causes, was built in 1699. At present, it is an extensive, considerably dilapidated building. At one time, however, it hosted the overthrown French King Charles X and Joachim Barrand. The castle park, although not large and boasts a rare flora, is newly renovated, with benches, a playground and is shaded by massive trees. There used to be a summer cinema there. The chateau is connected to the Church of the Exaltation of St. crisis. There is also a rectory in which there is an elementary art school. A baroque Marian column stands by the main road leading above the chateau.

Buštěhrad has been proud of its brewing right since 1497. Buštěhrad beer was renowned for its quality. Unfortunately, in the past, the brewery did not withstand the newly enacted conditions for beer production, and in 1967 the operation was terminated. The brewery buildings, which have also been marked by the ravages of time, stand by the old pond in the square. There is also one of several local chapels, a statue of the Virgin Mary and the remains of a prankster.

From the old pond there is a view of the large building of the primary school, which has passed through several generations of children from the surrounding villages, including children from Lidice. If you walk from the pond along the former cinema and hotel, you will find yourself at the Ota Pavel Museum. The Popper family lived in Buštěhrad (after "Kladno" in Buštěhrad "), in which little Ota grew up. Paul is the name under which he wrote. The second "new" Buštěhrad pond behind the museum is the pond with carp, known from his short story.

The historical trail of 25 stops will take us to the interesting places of Buštěhrad. The text is tastefully set in ceramic frames made by children from ZUŠ. The city also offers a nature trail, which has 17 stops. They will provide you with information about geology, medieval settlements, cobblestones or the scouts in Buštěhrad.

At one time, the Buštěhrad heap, located on the outskirts of the village, also became known. Slag and other waste from the Kladno smelters were originally exported on it. The heap was called the time chemical bomb. Dangerous chemical processes took place in its bowels due to the heat from the smoldering slag. The uproar over this issue has gradually subsided and today the overgrown heap is perhaps the subject of interest of perhaps only experts.

You should not forget the small Zoo in the Buštěhrad part Zájezd. You will see, among other things, camels, kangaroos, lynx and ocelot and lemurs.
